WHY IS THE COURSE IMPORTANT?
The Reinjection of Coal Seam Gas Associated Water course is aimed at providing scientific and technical knowledge about reinjection of coal seam gas associated water, delivered by experts in this field.  Topics like overcoming clogging; geochemical considerations; use of tracers; process control; hydrogeology and engineering will be covered.  The course will provide in-depth analysis of all aspects of reinjection.  The objective is to impart knowledge that will facilitate efficient and effective reinjection of coal seam gas associated water, enabling mitigation of environment impacts for reinjection projects.  At the end of the course participants will be aware of associated issues, and be better equipped to plan, design, approve and operate reinjection projects.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Scientific, technical and engineering professionals from coal seam gas companies, consultants and regulators will benefit from this course.

WHO IS PRESENTING?
The course will be led by Saeed Torkzaban, Henning Prommer (CSIRO) and Ryan Morris ( Senior Hydrogeologist, Origin).  It will also involve presentations from a number of experienced researchers, energy company staff, and consultants.

WHAT WILL THE COURSE COVER?
This workshop will present findings from a CSIRO three year research study about reinjection, which has been undertaken as part of the Gas Industry Social and Environmental Research Alliance (GISERA).  The research has focused on the impacts of clogging and how to overcome these as well as related geochemical issues. The CSIRO study has used extensive coring, laboratory testing, column studies, geochemical and physical modelling and field experience developed at operational sites run by origin on behalf of  Australia Pacific LNG.

The workshop will cover investigation and design of injection wells, geochemical issues, clogging and its management, water treatment methods and process controls, and synthesis of results from laboratory and field situations using models.

Subject to interest and satisfactory logistics an optional study visit to an operational reinjection well field in the Surat Basin will be arranged following the workshop.  To register you interest in this study visit, please email industrytraining@groundwater.com.au.

Staff from member organisations in  GISERA, please contact Tsuey Cham on 07 3833 5673 or tsuey.cham@csiro.au
